The
Governing Bodies
This is a point of much
frustration amongst the boxing public, the fact that unlike many
other sports, there is not one organisation worldwide, controlling
the sport as a whole as eg FIFA does Soccer.
I have attempted to
place these organisations in order of importance, with this
especially being the case for numbers 1-4, as the WBC is widely
regarded as the most prestigious. A Champion who holds the
WBC, WBA & IBF belts is regarded as the Undisputed Champion at his
weight. Organisations 5-8 do not carry much influence within
the sport of boxing.
